Mr. Baguette

Mr. Baguette makes a great veggie ham sandwich and the best iced coffee in the LA region. Yes, the best iced coffee. And they just printed a new menu that was hilariously fun to read while I waited for my meal, and I’d like to share some of Mr. B’s genius writing with you!

I got to hand it to Mr. B, he sure knows how to sell his quality stuff. I wish more places took such pride in their food. For example;

Large Baguette: “Go try the heart of Mr. Baguette’s very own existence.” Yum, heart.

Sesame Baguette: “Our famous large baguette sprinkled with a dazzle of sesame seeds.” Yum, dazzles.

Sesame Saigon Bacon: “Original in its category, this Saigon sandwich is certainly one for your mouth to try.” If I wasn’t vegetarian, I’d let my mouth give it a try.

A Turkey Breast: “No need to wait until Thanksgiving to have turkey, Mr. Baguette makes everyday turkey day with its delicious 99% fat-free turkey sandwiches topped with our contemporary salad to create an equal balance in your taste buds.” Everyone needs balanced taste buds.

And my favorite description, for the Tuna Sandwich: “Fused with an assortment of spices such as basil, thyme, and oregano, this wine and tomato flavored tuna is presented in a paste-like form that will aid in swallowing this immaculate sandwich.” Oh yeah, immaculate easy to swallow paste-like tuna sandwich, just like grandma used to make!

They really do make some good stuff, the bread is perfect and you can buy some to take home. Check out their website for more info: “regardless whether you are amateur or professional diner…let us guide you to an unparallel journey through the vivid world of French sandwiches and the land of Charcuterie.”

    Yep. Mr. Baguette is the shit.

    I even have the kid trained to recognize Rosemead and/or Valley as being “so close to Mr. Baguette we may as well pick up something”.

    They play Serge Gainsbourg! And Francois Hardy! And have a giant poster of the Arc de Triomphe! I love Mr. Baguette.

  3. Chuck Morse says:

    “Immaculate sandwich”? Is that religious? Isn’t that what Mary, mother of Jesus, ate?

  4. casey says:

    “Contemporary salad”? thank god they don’t serve the old-fashioned ones.

    An unparallel journey.

    Through the land of Charcuterie.

    (sounds like a movie trailer)

    this pic here of the fake ham sawich looks good. hey just last week, I went out to Ranch 99 market in el monte (rosemead?) over there on del mar and valley. anyway, they have all kinds of good veggie meat substitutes. they used to have this one fake ham that was the best. it was a smaller pink tube. there is a larger pink tube of fake ham that’s kind of a little more textured but that one isn’t as good, that’s not the one I’m talking about. the smaller one is no longer there. the same company makes similar small tubes of fake ham but it says “chicken-flavored ham” ,. huh? I got one to try it, but I was bummed, because that other one was really good. anybody know where else I might be able to find it, or something like it?
