(I went in and ranked out, ordering the chilaquiles instead since I didn’t trust the safety of their eggs. Wouldn’t you know it, they topped the chilaquiles with huevos estrellados! yikes.) I’ve been meaning to check out this place across from Tacos Michoacan at Ave 19 and N. The $6 price gave me a pause, when did all the prices start going up on this side of town? No, it’s not too expensive, but it’s quite pricey for LH. And besides El Huarachito, even Llamarada has been raising prices as well. Oh well, La Crisis y todo.

One good and unique aspect of Tarasco’s HR’s: they come with a basic quesadilla, as you can see on top of the rice. To bad the rice beneath is just terrible. Guacatela. The beans hint at lard, which sucks, but even worse is that they were mostly cold- only just barely warm. The ranchero sauce was dominated by tomatoes and could have used some more chiles, but it was okay. And the eggs were cooked quite nicely. But no tortilla underneath. It’s one of those dishes you start out thinking you like, but on further examination you decide to change your mind. Not sure what it was, but it went from being okay to a disappointment, just like that. It happens.

But maybe your decision making will turn for the better.

Restaurant El Tarasco 323.227.1297
200 S Avenue 19
Los Angeles, Ca 90031

If there’s HR’s in Lincoln Heights, I want to try them.
