(Ha, ha, he said fanny!) Besides, we’ve already done that. Well, sort of, since this one is on Main St. and not on Broadway like the other one, but there seems to be some sort of connection between the two according to this sign..

..which claims that this is the original Fanny’s of Lincoln “Heigts”, and to not be confused, my friends. 🙂 I don’t know what kind of name/turf war is going on but I’m just here for the food. I’d never been to this place so I asked for my usual dish by-which-to-measure-up-the-place, una orden de Huevos Rancheros! I think they end breakfast at a certain time (I didn’t look at the menu since I already knew what I wanted) but the kind waitress said she couldn’t have me go hungry so of course they could make them for me! That’s kinda nice. And just as soon as I had placed my order, she returned with these essentials..

..chips, salsa, and a glass of water. I think it should become a rule that any Mexican restaurant that doesn’t give you complimentary chips and salsa (or at least some other sort of botanita) is a shitty place to eat. Places that want to charge you for this simple extra are run by scum.

I sat in the first room which was simple and clean, though afterwards I heard the sounds of a futbol match on tv coming from the second room, I should have sat there. And before I even had a chance to think about how long it might take to get my plate, the waitress arrived with my dish.

That was quick service. The HR’s turned out to be okay: the tortilla underneath was not fried (which I’ve come to expect), the beans were a bit flavorless and needed salt, but the ranchero sauce on the eggs was surprisingly decent, considering it had whole bits of stewed tomatoes in it (ugh, I hate stewed tomatoes) and lacked any real measure of spiciness. The sauce had some body to it, which gave the dish its positive notes, but nothing too exciting. I paid around $6.25 for the meal, a tad on the higher side of what I expect to pay for this dish. Overall a decent entry but nothing spectacular.

Fanny’s Restaurant 2723 N.
