It has been quite some time since my last HR review. And trust me when I say this one is even older. I have a pile of “to-do” reviews so I figured I might as well brush one off. Aside from the fact that I’m not currently eating indoors other than my own place, I had also slowed down these reviews after one too many bad egg encounters. Let’s just say that playing HR roulette with your stomach gets old. But after 2 or 3 years of forgetting what that is like, I’m ready to dip into that dangerous terrain! Feel free to send me your suggestions in the comments, hopefully from a place with good hygiene standards. My enemigxs can ignore this post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This dish was consumed back on 1\/4\/2020, right after I had gotten over a terrible flu (hmmm?) that left me coughing for weeks after, and I didn’t take any notes. You’ve been warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Lupita’s in Pasadena (not to be confused with the other excellent place<\/a> in Cypress Park) has been a go-to for Mex-American fare for quite some time. Their Chile Relleno burros are top notch. I never really had the chance to try their breakfast since they don’t open until 11am, which is kinda late for breakfast in my book! I guess two years ago I just happened upon that golden moment of not having had breakfast AND being in Pasadena. $10.95 was the going rate, surely it’s more now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most compelling reasons to go to Lupita’s is for their chips and salsas. They give you a basket of warm crispy chips and two delicious fresh salsas, my favorite being that dark one that is made with some smoky chiles, maybe pasilla? I don’t need to know, I like going there just for this spread. I once saw my then retired doctor eating it up here and I wanted to question him on the eating advise that he had suggested for me. I see you mofo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Huevos Rancheros! Sadly, I do not remember anything about them, nor did I take notes. There could have been tortillas underneath, but I don’t recall. I think the eggs were overcooked, but I don’t recall. But that is the norm, so a safe bet. Lot’s-o-cheese. Honestly, I think they were okay, but I don’t recall. If the image works for you, then you should give them a try. I know I will continue to frequent Lupita’s for their tasty enchiladas and chile relleno plates. If I get another chance at breakfast, I’ll see if I can update this here HR post. But you can’t go wrong at Lupita’s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
