If you look above, you’ll see this place has some falling letters as well (though they don’t look as pretty), but “a que si e” still sounds like it could be a reasonable name for this restaurant. Y la comida? Pues pasen amigos, y veremos que tal.

The chips and salsa came quickly to our table, and both the green tomatillo and red tomato based salsas were packing some heat. Have you ever eaten so much hot salsa before your meal that your tongue is slightly smoldering when your dish arrives? I try to avoid that but sometimes it’s hard to resist the painful pull of the chile. Ah, ah, agua, por favor!

“I think you might have a chile eating problem.” “No, I can stop whenever I want, I just don’t want to. Don’t tell me what to do!”

The Huevos Rancheros. The tortilla was very lightly fried, and though I’d have preferred a bit more time in the hot oil, it beats the plain old tortilla underneath you mostly get nowadays. Unfortunately the eggs were overcooked and a bit tough, which kinda detracts from the plate. The salsa ranchera was chunky (as you can see) and sparse, but still decent. Average rice and beans, though they get a few extra points for the use of queso cotija. At $4 the plate, it’s more than acceptable for a bite to eat, even if a bit unremarkable. And yet, despite the challenges of remarking on the unremarkable, it looks like I did it! Hurray for mediocre reviews!

La Que Si Llena
2630 Cesar Chavez Ave.
East LA, 90063
323.261.1864

PS.
