Nice! We have those things in New York too, except more common here is the “rattle the security gate really hard” variety.
Sadly, the Mexican doorbell is being replaced by the “I’m outside” cellphone call.
My neighbor still uses the Mexican doorbell at all hours. That’s ok, I have the Mexican advance warning visitation detection device:
