Murals on Broadway and Daly being restored

After leaving the parade this weekend I noticed that some artists were working on restoring the murals on the bank at the corner of Broadway and Daly. Somebody seems to have kicked the ball rolling on this much needed restoration. The Adelita painting (and the other smaller ones) is already looking good!

Mas Musica!

I finally corrected the error of the missing mp3’s on the mp3 page although it’s a kinda convoluted solution. You’ll have to login to a gmail account (info on the page) and download the file from the email. It’s likely to not work but I’m willing to give it a shot. I did add some new links, one to 8 bit and another to the Inch Erectionists!
Free Music- what could be better?

Wifi at LH Library

Just noticed that the LH library is offering free Wifi internet access, that’s a good idea! I have to go try it out and see how it works but it seems you just start your laptop with DHCP enabled (meaning the computer gets an ip address from the network) and then select “ETHOSTREAM” as the wifi network you want to join. There a list of other libraries with free wifi here. Good to know for when you forget to pay your phone bill!

Sony gang gets out of hand

That corporate gang known as Sony has gone too far this time. First they stupidly infect your computers trying to protect their lousy music, and now they want to jeopardize the health of our neighborhood with corporate graffiti. As if million dollar marketing campaigns that blanket billboards, magazines, and commercials weren’t enough, they have to resort to tagging (they call it “viral marketing”) to push their wares. It’s no coincidence that they tagged up Juan’s Market (a small mom and pop store) and not some other corporate property like the Rite-Aid, gotta avoid the lawsuits. I wonder if this is what they mean by “Working Together to Make a Difference.” A virus does make a difference, though it might not be one you want!
A tip of the sombrero to LH local Michelle for passing along the info.

UPDATE:
Check this out. Somebody defaced the graffiti and it was then “fixed” but without painting over the stencils. And Sony claims to not be involved? Whatever.
