I’ve kept this default WordPress theme since I first started this shitty blog, and I mostly like it because it gets the job done: it reliably delivers the ‘content’ I provide to the few silly readers that insist on checking in occasionally to see what new lame thought I’ve laid out. I truly appreciate your visits and comments, thus I figure I’d ask you this: do you think it’s time for a change of the WordPress theme on this site?
I’ve seen many good looking sites lately, with all kinds of cool features and snazzy looks, and I’ve contemplated changing things around here, so I figured a bit of web style might not hurt. I know computers enough that it’ll be super easy to change it up, but if readers are fine with the layout, I might as well just keep it as is.
Thus, please make some recommendations for new themes, mention a feature or plugin you’d like to see, suggest some new design concepts even; I’m open to any suggestions.
As one of your “silly readers” I have to say I don’t come for the design but the content so as long as you throw something on this wall once in a while, I’ll come back to read it. Oh, as long as it’s good content. It is about communication, you see, all about it.
I get your posts through an RSS feed to my Opera web browser. It shows up as text without the formatting. So to me it won’t matter, but it would be nice if you kept an RSS feed.
I like the simple layout… Cool features, widgets and such, can be fun, though…
I like the simple layout, too.
mooncrazy,
I mean ‘silly readers’ in the nicest way possible! 😉
Be Good,
I don’t plan on getting rid of the rss feed, I do most of my blog reading via rss as well.
I like gravatars. http://site.gravatar.com/
Nah, keep it the same. Don’t get onto the treadmill of “the new”. I’d rather you be thinking about something else. I like the little things to stay the same. It’s the big things that need the changing.
I read it through Bloglines, so I never see the theme anyway. I say keep it the same.
Nah, this silly reader thinks it’s just fine. It ain’t broke, right? But then again, nothing like getting a haircut &/or new pair of shoes. (I’m such a girl.) Anyway, rather than giving your site a facelift, you could use your time more productively, like going out for a pint or two. I’d recommend a hefeweizen, it being so friggin’ hot and all.
i think you should just add a photo of your face or at least a photo of your face with a black bar covering your ojos nothing crazy. I hate going to blogs that have way to much going on. nice clean lines is the way
Change nothing.
I read your blog through google reader, so it doesn’t make a difference to me. Although, the “El Chavo” picture is what initially interested me in reading your site.
That’s a nice photo of glass and ceramic insulators.
change is good. embrace it. with that said, i don’t have very many recommendations for your new blog as long as it’s not ugly and features the content and photos that we love.
Thanks for all the feedback, I guess I’ll be sticking to what I have. Though I’ll add some small enhancements, like the checkbox in the comments if you want to have an email sent to you when another comment is added, it’ll make following a thread easier. And I even put a contact page, which people have already started using. http://chanfles.com/blog/?page_id=518
I also took Ritzy’s advice and put up a picture of my face with a black bar, check it here: http://chanfles.com/blog/?page_id=131
A few other small things I might try, but I’m glad to not have to look for a new theme: Default is the new hip! 😉
More naked bitches please!
This is from TacoSam, though for some reason the site wasn’t letting the comment happen:

Change is good. A breath of fresh air and creativity to bring new life.
Is that little wood toy on the top of your blog your official logo or trademark? If so, I suggest you keep “RoboChavo” in some form or another on your blog and just have him evolve. Look how Ronald McDonald has evolved over the years. According to the book Fast Food Nation (2001), 96% of school children in the United States can identify Ronald McDonald, making him the United States’ most recognized fast food advertising icon. Only Santa Claus was more commonly recognized. When I was growing up, Ronald used to have friends like Hamburgler, Grimace, etc. Now, Ronald is solo.
Also, what the hell happened to the Looney Tunes? Look how they evolved. I used to love them growing up. Then they came up with these new mutants kids of the originals or something unwatchable like that. I guess the old cartoons are called “Classic Tunes” now.
A suggestion is to keep RoboChavo and have him evolve as your blog icon. You can also keep your old design and call it “Classic Chanfles”.
just bust a UCLA, spend a crapload of money to upgrade your logo…italicize “CHANFLES” and bam, ya estuvo–modern & “artsy.” That will enhance your site’s identity. F***, even in blogs chicana/os got identity issues.

For my sake, I think this blog needs ads for viagra, mortages, and scary “personals.” 🙂
Keep it as is, man. Don’t mess with a good thing.
AWESOME PIC! oh mark my words el chavo, I’ll see your face live one of these days!!!!!!!!!
Me being one of your “few silly readers” I say HELL NO-DON’T CHANGE A THING A DAMN THING !!!!!!!
We come for the content not for viewing a few silly animated graphics, I also say if it broke don’t fix it.
I also took Ritzy’s advice and put up a picture of my face with a black bar, check it here: http://chanfles.com/blog/?page_id=131
