Yes, I seem to do this type of post quite regularly, but who doesn’t like seeing photos of beautiful Lincoln Heights? Please, don’t answer that. Uhh, this one was taken way before the St. Pat holiday, just so you know. Most LH folks will know what this means.
Here’s one of those questions: what has Capitalism done for me lately?

The business empire of towels & robes is based right next door to Footsies. Now you know.
The place where Von’s was will become a Smart & Final “extra” in the future.
The guards pass the time until then watching satellite tv.
Fat Boy’s Petz iz no more.
Oddly, the Dios ES Amor church went from a weird banner sign to a much more permanent one. But they chose the same designer.
If you squint, you’ll see a Welcome Section 8 sign. La Crisis must be hitting hard when you advertise for Section 8.
Some sort of homemade chicken wing jerky. Hanging on hangers, from an air conditioning unit. Maybe it’s just a sign of some dead chickens, but I do like the DIY spirit.
Ok, time for mimis.
Great pics as always.
And thanks for the teepee dude info, i want more! Maybe when I get a closer up shot of the teepee you can drop some more knowledge.
Love the Hot Wings on Wire. I bet its an Asian household. Mexicans don’t like Air Conditioning.
Hey there, I stumbled into your website http://www.chanfles.com/ and I thought the whole idea of it is great! I have’t checked out your blog yet, but I will after I’ve posted this.. Well, keep it up anyway!
Greetings from Sweden!

What about Varrio Clover? better remove those Shamrocks
I’ve noticed the section 8 welcome popping up all along the South LA area. While I’m for affordable housing, I sometimes feel that Section 8 stops that from happening. They still have to drop the rent in some places, but they refuse to, so they do this section 8 thing which stops the market from falling where it should fall, so they can get the gov’t to pick up the slack. I see the many benefits of section 8 housing, but I also see how its very unfair for the working poor, especially the working poor with a mom and dad in the household. I think section 8 housing should require half the units be fair market rate and in some working class eastside and southside neighborhoods that’s going to mean dropping the price not raising the price, but to me that would be the most fair thing to do and it’s just better. You want a variety of people in a building.
Most people in LH know what a green Clover stands for? Maybe so but not all of them have the same experience. Are you suggesting that the youngsters who grew up in the 70’s and saw their tio’s die violent deaths at the whim of gang violence are the same as the kids of today? Saw thier female sisters and relatives get pregnant and whelp out five babies only to be victims of the establishments welfare system are the same? Not even close. It’s hard to make comparissons because kids today also have it rough, but back then we were held down – no programs or education routes to adhere to. Today they’re faced with apathy and the scourge of the glass pizzle. Laziness and the sour inflated nipple of the government have our kids at bay – but at least now – if you want – there is education. There is a path, and there is opportunity. So keep mouthing off and keep bringing up topics like Section 8 housing. Healthy discussion is the start and freedom is the finish.
