I’m down South for a lil’ spell, escaping my obligations, checking out new places, and recharging the batteries. Of this laptop and my own I suppose. I’m taking a few pictures just cuz. So here goes a few, just to keep on the general theme of this blog. That being the blog that makes no sense! Jaja!
Dia de las Brujas is getting mixed up nicely with Dia de Muertos, as you can see from some of the items available at a papeleria.
Some man at a plaza seems to like having pigeons all over him. Kinda cool, kinda asco.
Muscle man with child photographer. Muscle-less man with child like photos? That’d be me.
Very engaging public art that’s also fun and functional. Not like that insipid stuff I spotted a month ago.
I had a chance to try some HR’s the other day, with it’s tomato and chile based sauce that was decent. The tortilla was not fried, I guess that’s a Northern thing? And the side of chilaquiles were good but soggy. Oh yeah, that spoonful of mashed potatoes with ham bits up on top, it’s their version of hash browns. Hmm, not quite. Good breakfast though, came with orange juice, cafe de la olla, and pan. All for about 7 bucks. At La Chata.
My Hotel is watching me.
Fuck! There go my plans.
I think i will pass on the love carriage ride.
International symbol of get outta my face.
Guadalajara: where fragile chandeliers can risk transport in an open bed truck. I almost wanted to follow to see how they fared.
Sewing circles in the plaza?
Yup! Damn hipsters.
Sexy witch asking not to be touched. Ooh, the temptation!
Jack-o-lantern piñatas. Nice.
Staircase to a bar. I’m not going to tell you what happens here.
Ruffles for the beer drinker? It appears so. Maybe I’ll taste these cheleras but I doubt they will be very interesting.
A butchered tree decorated with tree branches. Genius!
That’s all for now, off to see some other places. Maybe if I have a few more hours to kill and free wifi I will do an update. Maybe. Later locos!
Bring me back one of those jack-o-lantern piñatas! Porfis?
The public chair looks a little frightening, no?
It seems you are en el centro de la ciudad. Nice!
why are all the tree trunks in Latin American plazas always painted white?
$7 Dollars US for huevos rancheros? Are you serious? seems kind of expensive to me, especially for the locals.
kind of hard to put a coat hanger in your luggage, but I guess people were stealing them.
nice buen taco de ojo <— same as eye candy?
So andas por el estado de Jalisco….tierra de charros, tequila y Alejandro Fernandez.
I miss Mexico..well Guanajuato and el Festival Internacional Cervantino 🙁
Hey en GDL tu andas en taxi o usas los camiones?
gracias por compartir-have a safe return.
did you go to san juan de dios? they have the best birria i’ve ever had.
I heard that those chairs where designed and made by Fors, the lead singer of la Cuca. Aww, Guadalajara, how i miss u =(
TS – i’ve heard that they paint them white to keep ants and termites away from them. Im not sure how accurate this is, but thats what i’ve heard.
I understand Dia de Los Muertos flavoring American Halloween, a holiday so many seem to actually wait for and enjoy – it extends it from a mere few hours and actually gives it back some of its long-lost (to cheap commercialism) meaning.
But American Halloween in Mexico? That’s just something Mexico can do without. It must be those same people that gave Mexicans GMO corn that are now giving them “Jalowin”.
