Yeah, I know, flyers of missing pets are nothing new. For as long as humans have been in the company of domesticated animals (sure, why not?), there’s been notices of alert whenever those companions shake off their domestication and break free, even if it’s just for a little while. Or maybe they get stolen for a longer while, it’s all the same. Missing pets, someone wants you back. And since LH wants to be part of human history, people here post signs as well. Here are some I’ve spotted.
The above lil’ puppy needs his medication, “family and kids miss him alot”, and is just too cute for it’s own good. Hope it made out okay.
Just the facts.
Se llama Kiwy, his hair is brownish with black his whole mouth is black his chin is white. Has a NAME TAG. We love him a lot and miss him please contact us. A sincere appeal.
Urgente! Vida o Muerte / On Dieta Especial. Goku, your owners are offering a lot of cash to get you back. Good luck with the dry eye.
Needs Medication, Family Heart Broken. A reward is offered but the picture of the kid and his dog probably has more of an effect.
And the saddest one of the bunch has got to be this one. A long appeal to the person that called once to please return the dog. Click on the pic for the spanish version, here’s my rough english translation:
Have you seen my doggy? If you have her and return her I’ll give you a reward of $500. This little doggy is like a family member. She is very smart, educated, and clean. If you are the person that called me on 09/08/06 I ask that you please call me again and tell me if perhaps you never called back because maybe she died or simply because your friend just didn’t want to return her anymore. If that’s the case, I ask you to please not use her as a business to have puppies and please don’t tie her up to a patio because she will suffer very much as she is accustomed to being indoors. She is very sensitive to cold and that worries me. Remember that when one does good, they raise good. (?) Dogs are gods creatures and deserve to be treated with compassion. God bless you. +
That’s pretty sad.
(I’ve obscured the addresses and numbers of some of these signs as I know there are sickos that will read this and come up with some stupid ideas.)
I think that’s “bien le va” (to them good will come) rather than “bien leva” (they raise good).
Where are the missing rooster posters? Oh, that’s right. No one wants them back!
Bill,
Yeah that would make more sense, but you never know with dichos. I’ve never heard this one, and leva might be related to levadura, but I’ll go with your interpretation.
Kevin,
Why no rooster posters? Cuz they ain’t so stupid as to get themselves lost! That’s the terrain of dopey dogs.
I’ve never noticed so many “needs medication” missing pet fliers before! Are doggies in LH sicker than most? Or maybe they are in fact better cared for and the dogs in other neighborhoods are simply suffering (unmedicated)? Or maybe these pets have been medicated into staying but got wise and hid their pils under their tongues and then spat them out while their masters weren’t looking thus gaining the strength to make a bold jail break? Or maybe . . . .
too many medicated dogs! but i think this is just a tactic to get their dogs back. in contrast to birds, i think dogs can be happy among the human kind. true, that last one was real sad.
do you notice these are all toy dogs for the most part. no lost pitbulls.
peace.
I wonder how many of these dogs got returned to their owners. These owners must really love their dogs just like a child. I remember when I was a little kid and my dog got out and got lost, we just went and found another one wandering the streets and took it in. LOL
super sad… my clock has been ticking for a long time now.. for a doggie that is. when i finally get one, i hope i’m never in the postion to have to design one of these signs.
these dogs look pretty young to be on medication.
I’d hate to lose my dog. I’d cry.
Hijole, I member when I was younger my lil mutt “chuco” went missing. I looked for him for about a week…..never seen him again.
