The man that ran The Office is still hanging around the streets of Lincoln Heights and Cypress Park, but now he is roaming with a fancy decorated cart. I keep trying to catch a pic but always fail. This is my best shot yet. I will take a proper one eventually.
It’s been some time since I’ve suggested an HR place that I thought was seriously worth a visit, many of the recent ones have been average and mediocre, certainly not examples that inspire an appetite. This time out we find a spot that turns my downward trend around, a nice homey spot that is my type of eatery. Yup, Lupita’s in Cypress Park.
I like when I don’t have to go to work. And I like it even better when I don’t have a list of bullshit that I have to get done on my “time off” that’s basically preparation for the next time I go to work: washing clothes, ironing clothes, buying groceries, paying bills, figuring out schedules, cashing checks, all that business. Today was one of those I-can-waste-my-time-however-I-want days (uh, other than dealing with the dead car battery) and that usually means grab the camera and head out the door and see what’s happening in the neighborhood!

The price has been kept artificially high by builders trying to wring out every last bit of coin from the average consumer. Will this current glut of unsold stock lead to the lower prices that your average pooch can afford? All indications point to no as the Fat Cat Banks are hoarding their properties, trying to ride out the wave of foreclosures and hoping to cash in later.
What this neighborhood needs is a determined pack of squatter dogs!
I don’t usually wash my car, its too bourgeois. But sometimes I do have to hose down the dirt so I can see as I maneuver the jalopy to my intended destination. And since I’m a DIY kinda guy, I hit up the self-wash, the closest one being over on N. Figueroa. Weekends are the worst time to go, lines of cars waiting to wash, waiting to dry, waiting to vacuum, and all the dudes way into their cars make it a habit of hanging out as long as possible, occasionally looking up to see if people are looking at the ride, or looking at them. The macho car wash scene, it exists.
But I had a hunch today might be different.
I’ve been wanting to explore some new HR options throughout the city but I haven’t had time to go very far. (I will gladly take any suggestions.) So I jumped into my carcancha this weekend to see what could be seen. And then as I was ready to ferret through some lonely streets of East LA I came across this place I’d been meaning to try out, and its quite conveniently located in my neighborhood of Lincoln Heights. Well that will bring a quick stop to my ramblings, besides I have things to do. Might as well try it now while I can.
