There were rumors that it wouldn’t happen this year, some sort of infighting or some budget issues with the Neighborhood Council. But it looks like something was figured out because it did go on as usual. (Sadly, that wasn’t the case for this years East LA Xmas parade, it didn’t happen.)
So yeah, I went.
If you’ve been wondering what’s happening at the graffiti pit on Humboldt, near the Thrift Store Lofts, well wonder no more since I just found out. If you haven’t been wondering, there’s been some activity there with some concrete smashing and heavy equipment doing stuff. What for? Apparently another Young Nak parking lot. Because they can never have too many. Yeah, the cars are way in the back. I wasn’t about to get out of mine just to take a pic. As if!
Next up in our continuing series of making tamales: buy yourself a tamale maker! Now that will make everything much easier!
Err, I’m just kidding, this looks gross. Don’t go pushing your tamal out of a lil’ tube.

Seriously, its not that hard to wrap them up on your own. I should have those instructions up by sometime this weekend. Give or take a week.
I’m almost done! In this installment we proceed to gathering the items you will stuff into a tamal. For now, we begin with the classic tamal de rajas con queso. Soon I will add the soon-to-be-classic tofu con papas tamal that will sweep the world!
All tamales require a salsa to make them whole. This here is my simple green sauce, a red one is coming sometime soon. Yes, I think I’m on track to actually finish this series very soon!
